Local content is an expression and communication of a community’s locally generated, owned and adapted knowledge and experience that is relevant to the community’s situation.

There is a plurality of local content in Africa, but more often than not the content is never available in digital form or on digital platforms.

In Kenya, local digital content can be used to share and provide information on all aspects of the country’s socio-economic, political, cultural and religious aspects. This will help promote its interest in trade, investment, tourism, industries as well as promote local and international goodwill. Continue reading »

MPrep aims to disrupt the educational status quo through widely-used mobile technology. We are an early-stage startup that has begun to make serious traction in the edtech world.  What we need now is another highly-committed person to add to our team: an experienced developer with serious knowledge building platforms using:

  • PHP/MySQL
  • Java Script
  • HTML/CSS
  • GIT Version

 

Main duties include:

 

• Interpreting user needs for platform updates

• Working with CTO to refine and manage the existing platform

• Developing and maintaining our website

• Coordinating with CTO to develop new versions of the platform

 

Must be dedicated, hard-working, honest, and passionate about education. Juggling experience and love of Breaking Bad a plus.

KUSSD, Willy mwangi, nailabNationHela is the relatively new service launched by a partnership mainly between Nation Media Group and Diamond Trust bank. The platform, built by Craft Silicon enables the Kenyans living abroad to remit money to friends and family. After signing up the card will facilitate the owner to move money to Safaricom’s Mpesa, withdraw cash at any ATM via Visa and make payments at supermarkets.

On social media some of the early adopters, are talking about the service.  Apparently even for the big players, teething problems cannot be avoided.  The team @NationHela is working hard to resolve the issues being raised by their clients though. Continue reading »
